How Do Families Become Debt Free?
Break The Cycle Of Debt
Of all the things we actually learn through “nurture” as opposed to “nature,” debt can definitely seem to be a genetic disorder. How do families become debt free when the children often end up depending on their parents generation after generation?
Someone has to break the cycle. Someone in the family needs to learn debt management – and not just for themselves. This kind of situation calls for some serious debt help for families.
Family Debt Management to Break the Cycle
Breaking the cycle of family debt starts with you. You yourself must be an example. It doesn’t matter what your role in the family is – whether you are the oldest son, sister, cousin, mother, father, uncle, or aunt. It doesn’t matter where family debt management starts, just so long as it does. Someone has to take the first step.
Once you start getting your finances under control, then you can give debt help to the rest of the family. It just takes one person to be a shining example for the rest of the family to follow. Definitely start with the children though – the next generation is the most important to educate on family debt management.
Debt Help and Tactics for Families
Definitely get everyone involved once you have begun your journey to being an example for a debt free family. Make it a game for the children, a weekly discussion with the adults, and a topic of conversation over dinner. Don’t keep it a secret. Everyone in the family should know the truth about the family debt.
Also seek debt help through counseling and maybe even a mathematically inclined friend to build a budget. Last but most certainly not least – seek out a mentor, someone who already has their debt under control, to help you through the rough spots.
